We started with a fun game of foot pictionary. Amazingly some of the foot scribbles did get guessed correctly.
Then we played a version of "pin the tale on the donkey" that showed us how the hands need the eyes/mouth and vice versa.
Next we thought about what we were good at and how we could serve others with those talents, making a shortbread body part to represent it e.g. good listeners made ears, good helpers made hands, errand runners made feet.
We put the parts together to make quite an interesting body, before eating him!
We made prayer chains praying for the future of the church and the parts we could play ourselves. Then we finished with this prayer:
Lord,
You have no hands
but our hands to do your work today
You have no feet
but our feet to lead men in your way
You have no tongue
but our tongues to tell men how you died
You have no help
but our help to bring them to your side.
We are the only
Bible the careless world will read,
We are your last
message, given in word and deed;
What if the type
is crooked? What if the print is blurred?
What if our hands
are busy with other work than yours?
Help us Lord to
listen when you whisper in our prayers
Help us Lord to
use our hands, our feet, our eyes and ears
And find the time
to share your message with those we meet each day
Show them, tell
them, love them, lead them, to follow in your way
Amen
