New Vicar

Richard Phillips

On 5th September, we warmly welcome the Reverend Richard Phillips who joins us as our new vicar.  He has moved from Holy Trinity Church, Walton, Aylesbury, where he has been Curate for the past 3 years. Since January 2016 he took on the responsibility of the day- to-day running of the church when his vicar became acting Archdeacon of Buckingham.

His other duties there included responsibility for Children’s Ministry, establishing a Summer holiday club, developing links with local primary and secondary schools, and working alongside adult and youth volunteers. He was an active member of the pastoral care team, regularly visiting people at home or in hospital.
He introduced the distributing of Mothering Sunday posies in a local nursing home.

In addition to this broad experience gained at a very busy parish, Richard brings us a wealth of life experience – after graduating from Cambridge University, he qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in industry for 13 years, rising to Directorship level in management.

He is married to Louise, and they have 3 children, Samuel, Hannah and Rebekah. Richard and his family have already settled  into the vicarage in Long Crendon  and is keen to get to meet his parishioners in Chearlsey, Nether Winchendon and Long Crendon.  So look out for him and give him a warm Chearsley welcome.
