Pew Sheet - Sunday 18th October 2015

Prayer

God, our light and our salvation: illuminate our lives, that we may see your goodness in the land of the living, and looking on your beauty may be changed into the likeness of Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen

Collect for the Twentieth Sunday after Trinity

O Almighty and most merciful God, of thy bountiful goodness keep us, we beseech thee, from all things that may hurt us; that we, being ready both in body and soul, may cheerfully accomplish those things that thou wouldest have done; through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.
We are very grateful to Tina Stirling for taking the Holy Communion service in Chearsley and the Harvest Festival Family Service in Nether Winchendon today.   Tina has kindly sent us the following:

“I am a retired priest living in Stone.   Until two and a half years ago I was the incumbent of the Bernwode Benefice for fifteen years and Area Dean for Aylesbury for five of those years.   Before that I was curate and associate minister in St. Mary's, Thame.   Now I am an emeritus honorary canon of Christ Church, Oxford and Clergy Retirement Officer for Buckingham Archdeaconry as well as an assessor for the folders which curates in training are required to produce indicating their competency!”

Friday 16th October  Unfortunately the Committee organising the Harvest Supper in NW have decided to cancel the event because of the very small number of people able to come.

Saturday 17th October Men’s Breakfast at “The Eight Bells” High Street Long Crendon, 8.00-9.30 am.   The Guest speaker will be Mark Herbert, Assistant Pastor, Long Crendon Baptist Church: "Is the good life the best life?”   Full English Breakfast £10.   Tickets (first come first served!) and further information from Chris Lilley (LC), Geoff Hogbin (Ch) or Robert Hutton (NW).

Sunday 18th October, Church House, Long Crendon:   There will be a Harvest Lunch at Church House following the 10:30 am Family Communion in St. Mary’s.   Bring the family and enjoy a good lunch together with friends.   Please note that this is no longer a Bring and Share Lunch, the food is now being provided.
